Character Profile- Daisy Derriwinkle, "Geekyverse"

Who is Daisy? 

Daisy Derriwinkle is one of the major characters in the Geekyverse, being the POV character from the first novel, Geeky Turn On. She is also the main love interest in A Tempted Geek and How the Gatekeeper Met the Geek, is a major secondary character on Geek on the Side, and plays a small but vital role in Love after Life. She is also one of four POV characters in the upcoming Summerbaby, the sixth Geekyverse book.

Personal History

Daisy was born in Amberville Hospital on 20 July 1986 to Doug and Liliana Derriwinkle. At around age four she was diagnosed with Autism, but as she was considered high functioning, she was allowed to take normal classes. 

At age five, Liliana abandoned Doug and Daisy, an event that would scar Daisy for life. From ages five to ten, Daisy's maternal grandmother, Clara Derriwinkle, would be her main caretaker, as Doug would throw himself at his work.

Daisy met Sarah Keene, Doug's childhood friend, at age ten. Many weeks later, Sarah and Doug would rekindle their romance and start dating again, providing Daisy with a true mother figure. The two would marry four years later.

In the year 1999, Daisy met Gabriel "Gabe" Duncan and Todd Johnson, who would soon become her friends for life.

Daisy graduated High School on June 2004 with a 2.9 GPA. She would attend Amberville Community College and meet Jolie Richardson then.

Daisy graduated Amberville Community College in the year 2007 with an Associate's Degree in Computer Programming. 

In the year 2008, Daisy became Gatekeeper's first customer by purchasing a Yu-Gi-Oh Booster Pack from Gabe. In that same year, Daisy became a freelance coder.

In the year 2018, Daisy would fix Anthony "Tony" Tanner's phone, which broke once it fell out of his pocket. Weeks later, her fixing Christine Tanner's phone would lead to the discover of the latter's infidelity. This event would cause Daisy great guilt.

In early March 2021, Daisy met Paige Thompson. Weeks later, the two would start dating. In December 11, 2021, the two would marry.

Relationships:

Doug Derriwinkle: Doug is Daisy's father, and the two are very close. Daisy spent a good chunk of her adulthood worried that she was a disappointment to him. Although Doug is emotionally reserved, he loves Daisy with all his heart. To make sure she gets the medical treatment she needs, he has kept her on his insurance well past adulthood. Daisy always buys him clothes as gifts for his birthday, Father's Day, and Christmas. He doesn't mind.

Liliana Smith: Liliana is Daisy's biological mother. Liliana stopped loving Daisy after the latter's autism was discovered, considering her daughter a disappointment. Liliana abandoned Daisy when she was only five, and thus the two no longer have a relationship. Daisy doesn't even remember what Liliana looks like; all she remembers of her mother is the pain brought by her abandonment.

Dr. Sarah Keene Derriwinkle: Sarah is Daisy's stepmother. The two have a very loving relationship, with Sarah acting like she's Daisy's real mother. Although Daisy always used to call her Sarah, she always thought of her as her mother figure. Daisy ALWAYS gets her nice Mother's Day, birthday, and Christmas gifts.

Kevin Derriwinkle: Daisy has always been a good big sister to Kevin, who in turn greatly looks up to his older sister. It was Daisy who took Kevin to see Iron Man in 2008, which led to Kevin becoming a HUGE Iron Man fan. Daisy also introduced Kevin to Star Wars.

Vanessa Russo/(SPOILER!): Vanessa was at one point Daisy's main rival for Paige's affections, but soon backed off once the depth of their love was clear to her. Certain events would lead to shocking discoveries that would change her dynamic with Daisy forever...

Paige Thompson: Paige is Daisy's wife. They're in it for the long game!

Gabe Duncan: Gabe is Daisy's male best friend. Gabe has always been the most mature member of the trio between the two of them and Todd, and thus Daisy's always been somewhat dependent on him. She was also unaware of his very obvious crush on her for twenty years. Daisy is very supportive of his business, being his best regular.

Todd Johnson: Todd is Daisy's second male best friend. She and Todd often play video and card games together, though Todd almost always wins. Daisy is very supportive of his YouTuber career, and is subscribed to all his channels.

Jolie Richardson: Jolie is Daisy's female best friend. The two watch Anime together every Wednesday night, and Jolie is often the one to suggest group activities specifically to get Daisy out of the house. Jolie also taught Daisy Japanese.

Amy Slaughterhouse: Amy is Todd's girlfriend. Daisy admires Amy for being in a band and playing guitar. The two are good friends.

Mike Wallace: Mike is Jolie's boyfriend. He also works at the gym Daisy, Paige, and Amy frequent. He and Daisy are good friends.

Samantha Adebisi: Sam is Gabe's wife and Paige's best friend. She and Daisy briefly dated, but broke up both because Daisy was in love with Paige, and because the two were romantically incompatible. They remain close friends, however.

Brandi Thompson: Brandi is Daisy's younger sister-in-law. The two get along great, with Brandi openly favoring Daisy over her own sister.

Pastor Timothy Thompson: Daisy's father-in-law, the two have a close relationship and great mutual respect. Daisy's refusal to call him anything besides Pastor Thompson is a show of how much she respects him, though Timothy sometimes wishes she'd be more affectionate with him.

Elena Thompson: Daisy's mother-in-law. They have a good relationship.

Anthony Tanner: Gabe's honorary cousin. He and Daisy are well acquainted and hold one another in high regard.

April Mann: Daisy's ex-fling. The two remain civil to each other, but April still pines for her sometimes.

Ricky Mann: April's little brother. He and Daisy are Yu-Gi-Oh rivals.

Christine Duncan: Gabe's cousin. Daisy accidentally exposed her infidelity to Tony, and thus she avoids her. Christine, for her part, bears no ill will towards Daisy. When they were much younger, both found the other to be very attractive, and had Christine recognized her own sexuality back then, certainly would have dated Daisy if she could.

Louie the neighbor kid who goes 'Holy Java Llama': A young teen who obviously lusts after Daisy. She considers him annoying.

Paul Jones: A former minor Internet celebrity and Paige's ex-boyfriend. Emotionally abusive, he is loathed by Daisy and all her friends.

Sally Mack: Daisy's ex-girlfriend. An emotionally abusive shrew, she is absolutely loathed by Daisy's friends and family. Hasn't been seen since 2008.

The Inner Voice: A voice in Daisy's head that constantly tries to convince her to hurt herself or do things that will hurt her. Daisy's been taught to ignore it, but some days are easier than others....

Trivia

• Daisy is the second oldest member of her friends group.
• Most of Daisy's romantic relationships involved a significant age gap, the largest being her and April Mann (seventeen years) and the shortest being her and Sally Mack (four years).
• Daisy has Asperger's Syndrome. She might also be slightly Schizophrenic.
• Her favorite Star Wars character is Luke Skywalker and her favorite Star Wars movie is Empire Strikes Back. Her least favorite Star Wars character is Admiral Holdo, and her least favorite Star Wars movie is The Last Jedi.
• Daisy's favorite superhero is Wonder Woman. She strongly prefers Linda Carter over Gal Gadot.
• DC over Marvel for her, but MCU over DCEU.
• Her favorite holiday is Christmas. He least favorite is Independence Day.
• Daisy has a tendency to undereat. When going through strong emotional stress, she skips meals altogether.
• She weighs 105 pounds and stands 5'5''.
• Daisy has made a game on RPG Maker, and has written some Star Wars fanfics. Only Paige knows this.
